Holiday favorite Napa on Ice opens early on Nov. 8 Napa on Ice will open a week earlier as its fourth season begins on November 8. In previous years the popular holiday activity opened for business mid November and ran until mid January. Since debuting in November 2011, Napa on Ice’s skating area and skate rental station has occupied a city-owned parking lot at Second and Coombs streets. Some 16,000 people visited the rink in 2013-14, its highest turnout since its inaugural season, according to Peter Mott, a Napa on Ice founder and city councilman. Napa on Ice’s 5,600-square-foot skating surface will be open daily, including holidays, through January 11. Some special programming at the rink includes “Rock the Rink” on Friday nights, and special promotions for “Family Night” on Tuesdays. Skating is only $12 per person, and includes skate rental. “Skate Buddies” to assist beginners and lockers are available for rental.
