I have installed and managed culinary/vegetable gardens for several restaurants. Our food is grown in the Copia gardens, wineries and at private residences, and I am constantly seeking locations to cultivate and plant. Helping others learn to cultivate, grow and harvest food for their table is immensely satisfying. Herbert Clayton Hebb, my grandpa, was semi-famous for his gardens, and his inspiration was a guiding influence in my life. “We’re going to Grandma and Grandpa Hebbs’” were magical words for this five-year-old boy. Grandpa Hebb would take me to his garden and let me help him harvest the red new potatoes and tomatoes. My size and hands were perfect to glean for tomato worms. My mother always required her kids to help in the kitchen and with her catering jobs. Her teachings led me to become a sous chef and line cook in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Growing food is an essential part of my life. My partner, Brenda, and I share this passion. We spend hours in our garden, growing 90% of our food. Bringing our children into the garden to help is the continuation of generations of caring. When Mark Leonardi, Hospitality & Event Director at Sullivan Winery, approached us about revamping and designing a new culinary garden at the winery, Brenda and I jumped right in. Mark had a vision of a farmto table atmosphere at the winery. We discussed a garden that their guests could walk through and enjoy, and their employees could harvest from, whose fresh food and flowers could support their events. Our team supports vineyards and residences to develop and create water-wise gardens that provide fresh organic greens and vegetables grown year-round to local restaurants, winery employees and the Napa Food
