CHAMPION FOR CHILDREN CHRIS SCHMAUCH Empowering journal from philanthropist SHERI SOBRATO BRISSON helps ill children deal with disease. By Julie Vallone Sheri Sobrato Brisson knows a lot about being sick. ¶ As a child, she was in and out of hospitals frequently, needing a series of eye operations and battling other ailments. ¶ In her early 20s, she was diagnosed with brain cancer. (She believes some of the health problems of her youth were early symptoms.) Brisson was lucky. After about a year and a half of treatments, she was able to overcome the disease, and she never had a recurrence. But the experience left its mark on her and has inspired her current project. » 46 South Bay Accent
