Devoted to Dad Much has been written about legendary jazz great Nat King Cole’s influence on his daughter, Natalie Cole. As a young girl, Natalie learned the fine points of jazz from her gifted father, and she has helped keep his memory alive for decades after his death, in part by intertwining their voices in songs such as the hauntingly memorable “Unforgettable.” On Sept. 18, the accomplished R&B and jazz vocalist visits Saratoga. On Aug. 14, Paul McCartney returns to the Bay Area to perform the final show at the fabled stadium before it closes. Music lovers have already started speculating about the much-anticipated event, pondering which songs the British musician will play. Will he take on classics performed during the 1966 concert such as “She’s a Woman,” “Yesterday,” and “Nowhere Man,” or will he stick to more recent tracks from his 2013 “New” album? Playful IPirates t’s been more than 130 years since Gilbert and Sullivan premiered their comic opera, “The Pirates of Penzance,” in New York City. Yet the timeless musical still draws a crowd today. On Aug. 9-10, Lamplighters Music Theatre presents the wacky tale of Frederic, a pirate who is about to complete his apprenticeship, and then discovers he must remain on duty for 63 years due to a leap year birthday.
