December 2014/January 2015 37 introspective, but always on the move.” Viewers can witness this dynamic passion in Deane’s every brushstroke. He attacks his canvases with broad strokes of color, yet his finished works reveal subtleties and complexities that draw in the viewer. Deane chooses to paint many different moods and stimulate feelings such as joy, quiet reflection and excitement. In other words, he leaves it up to the observer to perceive the emotion and feeling of the art work. Inspired by his travels to China, Thailand, Italy and France, Deane has recently turned to mixed media, incorporating antique papers, found textural items, images and printed words to enhance the spatial depth of his pieces. This allows him to evoke “a grounded feeling of place,” he says. Throughout his career, however, Deane has always been influenced by the moods and palette of California. His work is regularly featured in major galleries throughout the United States and Europe and appears in private collections around the world, including those of sports figures, politicians, movie stars, authors, designers and even royalty. Deane's work is included in the permanent collection of the Uffizi Gallery and he was selected to have a solo exhibition at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno, which was Michelangelo’s gallery. He also has an extensive list of corporate clients including several high-profile Silicon Valley businesses. To view Deane’s work, call the studio for an appointment. An artistic feast awaits you.
