Super Bowl City, held outdoors, will also feature interactive activities, live performances and booths with locally produced food and wine. Enthusiasts can even preview the venue—Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, home of the San Francisco 49ers—with a public guided tour, dubbed the VIP Super Bowl Experience Tour, and museum pass. Tours of the NFL’s newest venue are held every day during normal business hours, except for event days, until the NFL takes over to prepare for the big game. The 90-minute guided tour offers an inside look at the $1.2 billion, 1.85 million square-foot facility with 68,500 seats, 165 luxury suites and 9,000 club seats that debuted in 2014. Tickets for the stadium tour and a self-guided tour of the 49ers Museum at the stadium can be obtained through Ticketmaster. Private tours of the stadium and museum are also available through Jan. 7. Tour prices for adults start at $50 and the starting cost is $45 for just about everyone else—children from 5 to 12 years old, seniors 65 and over, members of the military and Santa Clara residents of any vintage. For groups of 20 or more, call 415/GO-49ERS, ext. 5. On Feb. 6, the day before the game, thousands are expected to flock to Santa Clara’s own city extravaganza at Santa Clara University. Matthews says plans include live stage entertainment, a pep rally, a food and beer garden, interactive activities, a celebrity flag football game and an appearance by former NFL players available for meet and greets and autograph signings. Other cities across the Bay Area will be hosting their own free Super Community Event gatherings. Martin says the committee will update details on this wide array of activities that includes foot races and holiday tree-lighting ceremonies on its web site, sfbaysuperbowl.com. Though it won’t host the game nor serve as headquarters for the network televising Fan experience and green technology were top priorities when internationally renowned architectural firm HNTB designed Levi’s Stadium.
