Down to Earth beauyt takes care M A R C H / A P R I L 2 0 1 3 35 ▲ Erin Martin is comfortable in her skin—that is apparent from the way she conducts herself with casual ease. You’d never guess that she’s one of the most sought-after and revered interior designers in the business. Her down-to-earth cadence suggests a grounding connection to spirit, and she has described herself to me as a channel. Her humbleness reflects and radiates a most attractive inner beauty. Erin’s beauty routine is about as laid back as she is, but she takes care of herself and hits a home run with the basics. The quickie go-to hairdo is a messy bun quickly and chicly pulled back with Smoothies Blax. It’s different every time and perfect every time. To keep her amazing long, layery blond hair in great shape she uses Rene Furterer Okara Active Lights shampoo and conditioner, with an occasional treatment with the Karite mask bun on top of the head for a deep sleep treat leaving hair soft and silky, with brilliant shine. She says the T3 blow dryer changed her hair, and she is not the first person I’ve heard that from. Before styling with a Marilyn big round brush, she likes to put Moroccan Oil in for more moisture, shine, smoothness and repairing. This self-proclaimed tomboy uses Murad AHA/BHA cleanser and Skinceuticals for basic cleansing and moisturizing, and confesses she’s long overdue for a facial! Skincare has never been a huge priority, but she says with a grin and sideways glance that as she grows up it’s becoming more important. Her favorite old school products are witch hazel for astringent and Gold Bond Lotion. I approve! Erin gets a spray tan from Liz Kashani at Heaven and Earth about every 5-7 days; a level one keeps her looking healthy and “makes me look like I’ve lost ten pounds and look good naked.” Who doesn’t want THAT? She says she has no problem getting naked in front of Liz because she makes her feel so comfortable. Her makeup is Bare Minerals foundation, mascara and Moxie lip gloss, and she has tubes of Pomegranate Murad lip protector stashed everywhere. Beauty is as beauty does. Erin likes to always tell someone if they have something in their teeth or if their fly is down so that they do it for her. Follow the Golden Rule. When you’re kind you can go anywhere and be beautiful! And drink lots of water!!! For photo shoots she prepares by getting a blowout and makeup at Heaven and Earth, new clothes and “kickass shoes.” Then a glass of champagne! Erin’s beauty Golden Rules: • Rene Furterer Okara Active Lights and Karite Mask • T3 Blow dryer, Marilyn round brush • Moroccan Oil • Volumizing mascara, Moxie lipgloss, foundation—all Bare Minerals • Murad AHA/BHA cleanser, pomegranate lip treatment • Witch hazel, Gold Bond Lotion • Spray Tan • Blow out • Kickass shoes • Be nice Strictly Beauty by SARA CHAPPELET
