NOV E M B E R - D E C E M B E R 2 0 1 4 23 THE B E YON D WINE ISSUE Letter from Ian White Editor, NVL INK I was searching for a decanter when it struck me… Not only do I have one decanter, I have two of them, and three other apparatus for aerating my wines. That got me thinking… How many wine-related toys do my wife and I have? How many do we really need? So I laid out all of my gadgets, and sorted through them with the intention of purging our wine drawer(s). It was going to feel darn good to streamline; make some space. But as I sifted and sorted it became tragically apparent that each trinket had its place, and its use. And that not only was I not going to be able to get rid of anything, I was going to be calling Andrew at Soiree and placing an order for more. In the end, I’m a wine-lover, and I like to drink each bottle at its best. So I guess that means lots of knickknacks and a raised glass to the people who create these magical things that make drinking wine even more accessible and pleasurable.
