This site-specific installation is bursting at the
seams with revamped household objects, such
as rugs and towels dipped in paint, furniture
covered in artificial grass, and flat, limp items
stuffed into bulging protrusions. Ramos blurs
the line between artwork and architectural
space to create a surreal, vibrating environment
that is both enticing and overwhelming.

Sophie Metz: Figurative Fiber. Through
June 9. In 17th and 18th century Europe,
cabinets of curiosities displayed artifacts like
bones, plants, and butterflies. Today, San

Painting Nature in the American Gilded
Age. Through Aug. 25. Drawing from the
Cantor’s permanent collection, this exhibition
considers how nature was depicted by American
artists from the 1880s to 1910. Through
landscapes, portraits and still lifes, the exhibition
highlights the importance of nature
for artists and the public, both of whom
increasingly were affected by industrialization.
