Art of the
Bicycle
two wheels is often our earliest taste of these intangible
thrills. This multimedia exhibit at ICA in downtown
San Jose showcases artwork that reinvents the wheel
while exploring the form, function and symbolism of the bicycle,
a mode of transportation that plays a primary role in
our childhood memories. Through sculpture, installation,
video, painting and drawings, the exhibition
considers the bicycle as a meditation on the human
experience, an object of design and a force for a sustainable
future. Colorful
and evocative works like
“Untitled (Bicycle II),
2011” by Pablo Calderon
(pictured) invite viewers to
celebrate the art of cycling.
