Standing at the edge of a chute called Corbet’s Couloir at the 10,450-foot summit, you’re
looking straight down the steep face of Rendezvous Mountain. If you catch an edge and
take a tumble, you’re going to cartwheel a long way down. The iconic Big Red gondola
that carried you up also gave you a chance to watch brave souls leap off the top of the
mountain and quickly disappear, trailed by a spray of snow powder.
