It’s not just for nerds. The Computer
History Museum should be bucket
list material for anyone with an interest in some
of the origins of California’s tech-centric brain
pool. At home in Mountain View, this hub of
computational history showcases the evolution
of computers beginning more than 2,000 years ago and continues
to chronicle new advances in technology.
“Birth of the Computer” and other exhibits remind us of the
not-so-long-ago time when massive basic computers occupied entire
rooms. For those who prefer to participate in the processing, interactive
activities abound. Sit in an autonomous self-driving car, learn Photoshop
and other graphics skills from the pros, get retro and play a game of Pong
or Spacewar, learn the basics of coding, and geek out over the stories computer
pioneers told from their own perspective.
Along with the largest international collection of computing artifacts
in the world, the CHM features a rotating roster of innovative exhibitions
and large-scale permanent installations that are entertaining and educational
for the whole family.

“truffles with a twist” at the Menlo Park farmers market on
Sundays, so get there early to get your hands on these locally
