of Metal
Metal sculpture created directly by the artist’s hand is
the focus of the Cantor’s new exhibition, “Working
Metal in 20th-Century Sculpture.” Featuring
small-scale sculptures, photographs and sound
recordings, this show explores modes of working with
metal that depart from more
traditional casting methods.
Highlights of the show include
imposing yet airy sculptures
by George Tsutakawa, best
known for his avant-garde
bronze fountain designs
inspired by man’s relationship
with nature; “found” assemblages and
loosely geometrical metal constructions
by celebrated British artist Sir Anthony
Caro; and welded steel work
by Melvin Edwards, a pioneer in
contemporary African-American

skating glides into town hot on the heels of the Winter
Olympics. This year’s “Stars on Ice” tour puts fans
front and center to experience the best of U.S. Figure
Skating. Dynamic brother-sister duo Maia and Alex
Shibutani, a.k.a. the “Shib Sibs,” will be joined by fellow
U.S. Olympic Team bronze medalists, reigning National
Champion Nathan Chen, U.S. Champion and overnight
sensation Adam Rippon, U.S. Ladies Champion Bradie
Tennell and National Champion Mirai Nagasu, who
made history by landing the first triple axel by an
