“To the mind
 that is still, the
 whole universe
 surrenders,”wrote
 Lao-Tzu, ancient Chinese philosopher
 and the reputed author
 of the Tao Te Ching.
 That stillness eluded software
 engineer and project manager
 Raj Patel. While thriving professionally,
  he found himself
 increasingly frazzled after relocating
to the South Bay for his
 dream job. Frequent business
trips to Asia left him, he says,
in a “state of daze.” So, like
 thousands of other stressed-out
code writers in the Bay Area’s
 high-tech hub, Patel looked for
 ways to access tranquility and
 clarity. As an experiment, he
 took up meditation.
