In 2009, Jim Domke of Sunnyvale
purchased a home in the Palm
Springs region as an investment
property that doubled as a residence
for his son. But as Jim visited, he
became more and more drawn to
the Desert Empire’s 350 days of
sunshine, cordiality and array of
outdoor activities. After his son
moved out, he wound up using it as
a personal vacation home and integrated
into a community of neighbors
from Kansas, Montreal, Quebec
and other parts of the globe.
“The first thing that’s so attractive
is the weather,” he explains. “In
November through April, temperatures
will be 65 degrees at night but
mostly 70 and 82 degrees in the
day. The weather attracts a variety
of people, so there is diversity here.”
